Speyside offers a glass of the exquisite Alexander Murray & Co Miltonduff 2001 Scotch, a libation steeped in history and tradition. Nestled in the verdant landscapes of central Speyside, near the ancient town of Elgin, the Miltonduff distillery boasts a storied past that predates its official founding in 1824. Once part of the clandestine symphony of illicit spirit production, Miltonduff emerged into legality with the passage of the Excise Act, bringing with it centuries-old secrets of distillation.
The distillery is renowned for producing two unique spirits: the classic ‘Miltonduff’ and the historic ‘Mosstowie,’ a rare variant crafted between the swinging '60s and the electric '80s, primarily for blending. While Mosstowie was a product of innovation, using Lomond Stills for a versatile distillation process, Miltonduff has remained a beacon of consistency. Its spirit, distilled through time-honored techniques, is a symphony of lightness, freshness, and elegance—a testament to the distillery's unwavering dedication to quality.
