James Pepper Old Pepper Bourbon pays homage to Colonel James E. Pepper's legacy, renowned for his dedication to producing the finest whiskey in Kentucky. The 'Old Pepper' label, once proudly endorsed by Colonel Pepper himself, was celebrated as 'The Oldest and Best Brand of Whiskey made in Kentucky.' Not only was it the first label in Kentucky to be bottled at the distillery, but Colonel Pepper's innovation, the 'signature strip stamp,' became a cornerstone of quality assurance, later influencing the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897.

Today, our label proudly incorporates historic fonts and designs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including the iconic signature strip label, providing consumers with valuable insight into the whiskey's origin and production. Our unique blends feature distinct mash bills of Corn, Rye, Malted Barley & Malted Rye, aged in new toasted & charred barrels made from Kentucky Oak, air seasoned for a minimum of 18-24 months, and sourced from the historic distillery well.

Distilled and bottled at the historic James E. Pepper Distillery (DSP-KY-5) in Lexington, Kentucky, our bourbon is aged a minimum of 4 years and bottled at 100 proof, with the distilling season listed on the signature strip label.

In addition to our core offering, the 'Old Pepper' line features limited releases and extensions, including Single Barrels bottled at barrel proof and Finest Kentucky Oak editions, which undergo a secondary finish in a new toasted barrel, also bottled at barrel proof. While some limited releases and single barrels may contain whiskey distilled elsewhere, all details are transparently provided on the labels.

Our commitment to excellence has been recognized with a Double Gold Medal at the 2023 New York World Spirits Competition, a testament to the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of James Pepper Old Pepper Bourbon.
