TASTING NOTES

Aroma
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate, pepper and rich vanilla. The immediate nose brings forward rich oak filled notes of spicy toffee, dark dried fruit, marmalade, and vanilla into the air. As I let the glass sit, I begin to notice sherried aromas of raisins and dates, some dark bittersweet chocolate and a welcome but delicate scent of pipe tobacco. The longer the glass sits, the richer the aroma becomes.

Palate
The palate is pleasantly pleased when the aromas carry into the tastes. Beginning with the spicy toffee and rich vanilla, the chewy fruit combines with a peppered orange marmalade and damp tobacco. What sounds like mouth full of confusion turns out to be a full of character and dimension that takes time and patience on the palate to appreciation the true value of what 15-25 years in the barrel can really do. Let it breathe.

Finish
The finish is long and with the delicious flavors of black licorice, dry fruit and hints of vanilla. A nice peppery dry spiciness lingers upon the palate and warms the throat well after the glass is consumed.
